How often do we go into the store with a $50 to buy makeup and don’t come out with any change? Do you spend more than this on makeup each month?

Makeup takes time and money and even if you are just applying it to head down to the mall you need so many different products such as primer, foundation, powder, lipstick, blusher, mascara, eye shadow and eye liner!

Not to mention what you’d need if you wanted to touch up your makeup including lipstick, lip balm, powder, blusher and everything else you could do without in your handbag! All of these products come at a cost and most of us just don’t have that to spend on ourselves.

Well we have some ways to make the most of your makeup so that you don’t end up paying out every month. The first thing to look at is your lipstick. Loads of women never get to the end of their lipstick tubes (I know I don’t) before they buy a new one. If you are one of those who has a habit of leaving them out to melt or squashing them in the lid then don’t panic, you can still use them.

Make sure that the lipstick is in date. Most lipsticks last between 2 and 4 years but if you’re in doubt, give it a sniff and if it smells funny throw it away. If its in date then you can still use it no matter what condition its in.

Invest in a good lip brush (you’ll be saving in the long run) and using that brush, use up every last bit of the lipstick thats in the tube or lid. You can paint this onto your lips and make your lipstick last for weeks alone on this tip. If you think that squeezing the last of the lipstick out of the tubes isn’t going to look very glam in the office then transfer it to an ointment jar to make it look more professional.

If you want to create your own lipstick then you can collect all the remnants of the old tubes you have and combine them all in a jar. Use the lip brush to get every last little bit out of the tubes and then mix them up in the jar to create a brand new lipstick color that will go even further than you expect.

By the time you’ve done these tips, you’ll probably have enough saved up for a new pair of shoes!
